How to Assess Your Requirements
The Lynx package will cover your front door, back door and the motion detector will
cover a large interior area and can see up to 40 feet of open interior space. If you're not sure that you need
more than this, then hold off right there, set up your initial system and decide later if you need more parts.
You can add them at any time.
However, if you want to do this all at once, then it's still easy. The most
important areas to cover are doors that are not covered by the motion detector. You have two to start, so count
the remaining doors and order # 5816 below.
It's usually not mandatory to have contacts on every single window, although you
can and it increases safety tremendously. If you want more windows covered, again order #5816
below.
Since motion detectors cover large areas they are usually chosen as an alternative to
many transmitters for doors and windows. In most homes two on the main floor is generally ample. If you
have a basement don't forget to protect it. Order the #5890PI, which ignores smaller pets or pests.
Smoke detectors that can call for help can make a huge and significant
difference. They can save your home even when you're not there and they can save lives. One or two per
landing usually suffices. Order the #5808 W3
In some areas, like bathrooms, a glass break detector may be a more practical
solution. Where many windows may be large and fixed in a common area, glass break detectors are highly
recommended. Order #5853
